About the history of Kim and Dave:
-
Kim sees David’s profile on where else? JDate! She e-mails him about international health-care opportunities and the local tango dance scene. Little does Kim know, David is a prior competitive ballroom dancer.
-
They meet at a local Jewish event. David gets the number of Kim’s best guy-friend to go skiing and not Kim’s! (woops)
-
David starts rock-climbing with Kim and her friend Kerry (despite his great fear of heights). Little does David know, Kim is an avid climber.
-
Kim invites David camping and he says of course! (all her other friends suddenly and “coincidentally” decline the weekend of camping)
-
Kim’s Aunt Nancy sleeps with a piece of wedding cake under her pillow.
-
Kim and David spend a date-night dancing in his kitchen to “This Year’s Love” by David Gray.
-
David starts attending Dragon boat races and watching Michigan football games; Kim attempts to keep up with David on the ski slopes and dance floor.
-
2 months later, while out for drinks, David offers Kim a drawer in his new condo. Kim immediately negotiates a closet. (She has a lot of shoes)!
. . . Fast forward 13 months to the day . . . 7.24.2007:
Kim and David return to Portland Rock Gym (corner of NE 12th Ave and Burnside (www.portlandrockgym.com) for a regular Tuesday night of climbing. Kim begins her ascent initially oblivious to the tune of "This Year’s Love." Kim continues climbing, smiling as the song sinks in; 50ft up and at the top of the route, there’s a familiar little gold Jerry Lee’s jewelry box. Utterly confused, she looks down to see David on one knee. After momentarily forgetting her line, and with cheers from the on-looking crowd at the rock-gym, she joyously accepts. Kim rappels down for David to place the ring. They join her friends who are watching from outside and go celebrate at Rocket (www.rocketpdx.com) followed by a romantic evening at the Governor Hotel (www.governorhotel.com).
