To all our family and friends,
We feel so fortunate to have so many wonderful people that are able to share such a special time with us. Portland is where Robin grew up and though she didn’t think it was so cool back then, it has become a vibrant city with some of the nation’s best restaurants, eclectic neighborhoods, and yes…shopping! As you plan your trip to Portland, use this guide to help you explore all that this great city has to offer. We hope you can stay a few extra days to take advantage of the sights and beautiful landmarks of the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to seeing you next July and can’t wait for the big celebration!!
To make it easy, we have listed some of our favorites:
PLACES TO SEE
Portland Saturday Market – The Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood transforms into a thriving arts and crafts open-air marketplace with vendors from all over the city.
NW 23rd – This is the perfect street for a stroll lined with cafes, boutiques, and vintage shops
Pearl District - Located in Northwest Portland, this is the old warehouse district which has recently been renovated into a bustling area that includes the city’s best restaurants and galleries.
Seaside – For those who have an extra day or two to spend in Oregon, take a drive to the coast. Only a 45 minute drive from downtown, this is what the Oregon coast is all about. You must stop by Haystack Rock (Cannon Beach) on your way back for some breathtaking scenery.

PLACES TO EAT
Portland City Grill - Atop the US Bancorp Tower, this is our favorite place for a special dinner. You don’t get a view better than this – oh and really good food!
Dragon Fish – Located downtown, this restaurant offers Portland’s premiere Pan Asian experience with a 500 gallon saltwater aquarium and amazing sushi.
Paragon – This
lively yet sophisticated neighborhood restaurant and bar features American
bistro cuisine.
Mother’s Café – The best place in town for a home-style
breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

PLACES TO SHOP
Twist – Besides showcasing some of the finest examples of American craft objects, glass, ceramics, and metal, TWIST now has one of the most important collections of jewelry artists found anywhere in the country.
Nordstrom – This famed department store started in the Pacific Northwest so it is only natural a free-standing one is located in the heart of downtown.
REI – For all those who love outdoor recreation, this is the place that has it all. A new location is in the Pearl District. You can even climb their 27-foot freestanding climbing pinnacle!
Real Mother Goose – This gallery and retail shop started here over three decades ago and has expanded to locations all over Portland. For the casual craft lover and the serious collector, they’ve put together a combination of distinctive elements that make looking at, learning about, and buying art, jewelry and fine craft exciting and memorable.
Pioneer Place – Located downtown, this indoor retail center is the size of four city blocks and filled with shopping, dining, and entertainment.
